movie facts

The famous magizoologist, a magical wizard that studies magical beasts, Newt Scamander, is played by Eddie Redmayne. The film isn't the actor's first foray into the Harry Potter cinematic universe. While he was still studying for university in Trinity College, Cambridge, he auditioned for the role of Lord Voldemort for the second Potter film, Chamber of Secrets. Though he wasn't considered, coming into play Newt Scamander was an immediately open door for Eddie. The filmmakers saw him as the 'first and only choice'. Apart from his fame in the Fantastic Beasts film, Redmayne holds critical praise for his other performances such as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, and Lili Elbe in The Danish Girl.
