Ant-Man is a superhero with the power to shrink to microscopic sizes, or even grow extremely large. This film takes place two years after the events of the Avengers: Civil War, with Scott Lang/Ant-Man under house arrest for his involvement in that film's events, violating the established Sokovia Accords, requiring all superheroes to register with the government. Following the events of the previous Ant-Man film, Hope van Dyne, played by Evangeline Lilly, now The Wasp with similar powers to Ant-Man, and her father are making great strides in the realm of quantum mechanics in an attempt to discover if Hope's mother, Janet, is still alive after an incident experimenting with shrinking technology many years prior. Scott begins receiving messages telepathically from Janet, and thus contacts Hope and her father to let them know, and the three of them expand their efforts to potentially save her. As they become involved with a devious black-market merchant, they find themselves and their research the target of the merchant and his thugs. They must fight against him in order to keep their technology safe from evil hands and save Janet.

movie facts

As with all the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, Ant-Man and the Wasp features a great deal of advanced computer-generated effects and makeup work. For this film, Michelle Pfeiffer portrayed Janet van Dyne, who has been trapped in a time warp for over 20 years. As such, the actress was digitally de-aged for her scenes using computer post-processing. This technic is not new to the production of an MCU movie however, as it is similar to what was used in the previous movie Guardians of the Galaxy 2, on actor Kurt Russell, who appeared as a young man in the 1970s, while also playing the main antagonist of the film, portrayed at his current actual age and appearance.
