Its working title had gone through several deliberations, taking the title Joe Jump, then Reboot Ralph in the mid-2000s. On October 29, 2012, the film debuted at the El Capitan Theatre. It was commercially released on November 2, 2012. It earned a worldwide gross of $471 million against its $165 million production budget. The film clinched the Annie Award for Best Animated Feature. Similarly, the film was nominated for the Best Animated Feature Film award at the Golden Globe Awards and for the Best Animated Feature award at the Academy Awards. Review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes gave the film an average score of 7.5/10 based on 178 critics. On Metacritic, the film earned a calculated score of 72/100 based on 38 reviews.
