Alexandrina Victoria was born on May 24th, 1819. She was Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from June 20th, 1837 until January 22, 1901. In addition, on May 1, 1876, she the title of Empress of India. Queen Victoria inherited the throne at age 18. She married Price Albery of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, her first cousin, in 1840 and went on to birth 9 children. After the death of Albert in 1861 she became withdrawn and depressed but later made a full recovery and regained popularity.

The book of the same name by Shrabani Basu was the basis of the movie. It is about the real-life relationship between Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom and her Indian Muslim servant Abdul Karim. The film features the acting of Judi Dench, Ali Fazal, Michael Gambon, Eddie Izzard, Tim Pigott-Smith and Adeel Akhtar. The first premiere was at 74th Venice Film Festive with the theatrically released on 15 September 2017 in the United Kingdom. The film was nominated at the 90th Academy Awards for Best Costume Design and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. At the 75th Golden Globe awards it was nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. Reviews were generally warm. The budget was $21 million with the gross box office sales worldwide reaching $65.4 million.
