James kills the kidnappers and rescues the girl, Rose. James brings Rose to her family's house, but instead finds a multiple murder-suicide scene. James takes Rose to a wild party, where James's girlfriend Vicki is attending. Vicki shows James a secret bunker where she will attempt to survive the firestorm, but James tells her they will all die anyway. James decides to do everything he can to reunite Rose with her remaining family. After saving her from a drug-addled woman, James brings Rose to her mother's house where they reunite. Then they go to her aunt's house where everyone is found dead. James realizes how much he loves Zoe and wants to make amends with her. He finds Zoe on the beach and they reunite, then are consumed by the firestorm.

movie facts

Perth, Australia is on the completely opposite side of the Earth to where the asteroid hit in the North Atlantic, so it would be one of the last places on Earth for the fire to hit. This gives the story enough time to take place. These Final Hours was chosen to be shown at the Directors' Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival in 2014. An American remake of the film is planned but has not yet been made.
