The story focuses on a girl named Arlen who finds herself locked in a remote desert area where the United States government has chosen to place criminals and those undesired in a civilized society, with no rules in place for the safety of those placed there. Everyone is left to fend for themselves, and as such Arlen soon finds herself at the mercy of a band of cannibals looking for easy pickings. Escaping with her life, but fewer limbs, Arlen must do whatever it takes to survive in this wasteland full of murderers and degenerates. She soon finds refuge in the company of a little girl, as well as a band of other misfits living in a ramshackle town called Comfort, led by The Dream, a cult-leader-like man. However, this town is not the safety Arlen seeks, as the girl she has found leads to a whole new host of complications for her.

movie facts

The Bad Batch harkens back to other futuristic dystopian and post-apocalyptic classics like Mad Max and Waterworld, where the value of human life is greatly diminished, and lawlessness is rampant. Critical reception of the film, while not largely positive, has made particular note of the setting and attention paid to its visual design, and the characterization of its main cast. The pacing and consistency of the plot have been a point of contention for many, but for those seeking films in this particular niche genre, The Bad Batch should satisfy.
