movie facts

Though not as advanced as Iron Man/Tony Stark’s Ultron peacekeeping program, the United Nations enforces peacekeeping and assists countries, helping them to transition from conflict to peace. UN peacekeepers help countries by giving security, as well as political and peacebuilding support. They give protection to civilians, set up measures to help reduce violence, and empower national authorities. Currently, there are 14 UN peacekeeping operations that have been deployed on over four continents. Some of the countries where UN peacekeepers are operating include: Western Sahara, Central African Republic, Haiti, Cyprus, Lebanon, Kosovo, South Sudan, India and Pakistan, and the Middle East. UN peacekeeping statistics have recorded 102, 910 personnel in the operations, with 12,932 of them being civilians and 1,345 who are UN volunteers. The program’s success has been seen in countries like Cambodia, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Namibia. However, some international conflicts have challenged the UN peacekeepers like events in Somalia and Rwanda.
