movie facts

Spider-Man: Homecoming is another entry into the incarnation of the friendly neighborhood spider. Tobey Maguire first carried the mantle in the Sam Raimi trilogy. The first two films were generally well-received, but the last film was lacking. Andrew Garfield followed and fans were quick to enjoy his near-resemblance to the quirks of the comic book character. Tom Holland takes the cake for being Spider-Man. He fits the bill of a geeky high school student as Peter Parker. His quick but flustered attitude and teenage wonder is convincing. The physicality of the role wasn't lost on Holland. What solidified him to the role were his gymnastics background, parkour activities, and dance skills. Marvel's reveal of Holland as part of Iron Man's team in Captain America: Civil War was strategic. It served as a small taste before they released the solo film. By then, seats filled to watch the new kid on the block swing his way into the theaters and an upcoming sequel in 2019.
