In an attempt to control global warming, a substance known as CW-7 has been released and effectively backfires, throwing the Earth into another Ice Age. Only those on the train Snowpiercer are among the living. The train was created by the millionaire Wilford who lives in the engine car. The year is 2031, and even after 17 years the different classes inside the train fight among each other. The lower classes in the last wings of the train live in dreadful conditions. The lower class is punished by Minster Mason and her guards, fed only protein bars and often have their children taken from them. The leaders build a plan to overthrow the train. Finding the right opportunity, the plans goes into action. Will it be enough to keep the lower class alive?

The screenplay is based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette. The film was directed by Bong Joon-ho, with the screenplay written by Bong and Kelly Masterson. The cast includes international actors such as Chris Evans, Song Kang-ho, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, Go Ah-sung, John Hurt, and Ed Harris. The film release was met with much praise. It was even included on the top 10 movies of 2014 list of many critics. Filming budget was $40 million with worldwide sales reaching $86.8 million.
