Robin Hood follows the character of Robin Longstride in a sort of prelude to the 'legend' that he became. Robin is a lowly archer in the army led by King Richard of England. Through a series of unfortunate circumstances, Robin and his comrades find themselves in the middle of betrayal and assassination of King Richard and must flee. Eventually, Robin returns to England impersonating a royal knight and meets with Sir Walter of Nottingham. Walter asks Robin to help his kingdom, and what follows is an adventure.

movie facts

There was supposed to be a sequel to this movie, probably following Robin in his more known role of stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, but due to the first films poor performance, the sequel was canceled. This was the 5th time that actor Russel Crowe and director Ridley Scott worked together, but even so, they apparently did not get along well during filming. Russell was criticized in his role of Robin for being too old, and also have a poor English accent. Compared to the 2018 Robin Hood film, this is much more of a historical drama, compared to the flashy action of the more modern take. It is clear that the director and main star of Gladiator are at the head of this film. The action is more epic in scale than the 2018 Robin Hood, but less choreographed. This film sets up Robin Longstride to be the more mysterious bandit of the people that most people are familiar with, but in a more serious tone.
