Jennifer Lawrence stars in this spy thriller as a Russian woman named Dominika Egorova. Dominika Egorova was a promising ballerina until she got injured and was forced to end her career. Without any income from dancing professionally, Dominika could no longer take care of herself and her mother. Due to these circumstances, Dominika allowed Sparrow to recruit her in order to preserve her and her mother’s well-being. Sparrow is a secret intelligence agency that recruits talented people like Dominika to do their bidding. Sparrow put Dominika through a grueling and sadistic training process that gave her powerful abilities but at a cost to her morals and character. Dominika then must navigate her life with the new skills and power she now holds without losing herself. Along the way she meets an American CIA agent who partially sees through her veil of what she has become to who she previously was. He tries to convince her to leave Sparrow. Dominika has a lot at stake with her life and her family’s lives on the line. In the film, she navigates the waters to find the best path or die to try.
