The movie follows the general premise of the classic Beatrix Potter children's books, with Peter Rabbit and his friends, all portrayed here in computer animation, spending their time stealing vegetables from the garden of Mr. McGregor, whose great-nephew Thomas serves as the primary antagonist of the film. After the sudden death of Mr. McGregor, Thomas inherits his great uncle's manor. Upon finding that the manor is worth a significant amount of money, he plans to sell it. However, upon finding Peter and his friends on the property, Thomas ends up in an all-out war with the animals for his property. This conflict is also at odds with Thomas' romantic interest in a local woman named Bea, who is friends with Peter and the other animals. The film's plot follows the animals and Thomas through their conflict and potential growth as individuals who can learn to live in harmony for each other’s sake.
