Paddington 2 was announced in April 2015 by Paddington producer David Heyman, with King and Farnaby attached to the project. In October 2016, Bonneville, Hawkins, Walters, Broadbent, Capaldi, Harris, Joslin Whishaw, and Staunton were announced to reprise their roles. The film officially premiered in London on November 5, 2017. It was released in theaters in the U.K. on November 10 and was shown in the U.S. theaters the following year on January 12, 2018. Paddington 2 garnered a total of $226.9 million worldwide against a production budget of $40 million. It received a highly positive response from critics, with some praising its storyline and cinematography. On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, Paddington 2 holds a perfect approval rating of 100%. In January 2018, it became the most reviewed film on the website, beating Toy Story 2’s record.
