movie facts

Javier Bardem’s character on No Country for Old Men was a ruthless killer. Psychopathic in nature, Anton Chigurh was made all the more terrible by the haircut that was put onto Bardem for the film. Canadian hairdresser Paul LeBlanc, who worked on styling hair for Star Wars, is the man responsible for the killer-bob cut. He remarked that he was inspired by the crusades, during the rampage between knights and Muslims who sported the hair. Another point of style reference, as recalled by one of the directors Ethan Coen, was a photo of a man in a bar in West Texas during 1979 that fit the bill for a sociopathic Chigurh. However iconic the haircut that sent Bardem up the stage and won him an Oscar for his performance in the role, he commented that it had sent him into a depression, feeling ashamed to even leave the house with it.
