On February 27, 2018, Love, Simon had a premiere at the Mardi Gras Film Festival. 20th Century Fox officially released it in the United States on March 16, 2018. Often regarded as a progressive romantic comedy, Love, Simon has gained great acclaim for its talented cast and revolutionary plot. It is the first film produced by a major Hollywood studio that focuses on gay teenage romance. It garnered a worldwide total of $66.3 million vis-a-vis a production budget of $10–17 million. It won a number of awards and nominations at several award-giving ceremonies, including Golden Trailer Awards, MTV Movie & TV Awards, Teen Choice Awards, People's Choice Awards. The book has a sequel called Leah on the Offbeat, but there are still no official announcements regarding a sequel to the film. However, after Love, Simon's commercial success, Berlanti said he is open to directing a sequel. Katherine Langford also expressed interest in playing the role of Leah, the titular character of the book.
