movie facts

Gray has directed similar thriller films such as Set It Off and Ryan Caulfield: Year One, but his prowess is not limited to the thriller scene as he has also directed the eighth installment of the Fast and the Furious series, The Fate of the Furious, which took the world by storm for breaking a record as the 11th highest-grossing film of all-time. The New York City-born director began his career at the outset of the 1980s. He first appeared in Major League, a 1989 sports comedy film. However, his appearance in the movie was without credit. But Gray never faltered in pursuing a career in directing. Just three years later, he directed one of Ice Cube’s songs, It Was a Good Day, which peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot/R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. He went on to direct several music videos. The year 1995 started putting Gray on the limelight with the urban comedy Friday. He then subsequently directed other films that earned praises from critics. In 1998, Gray finally gained recognition at the Acapulco Film Festival and won Best Film and Best Director for The Negotiator. To date, Gray continues to add multi-award-winning films to his already astonishing repertoire.
