Bill Randa and Houston Brooks of the Monarch organization have succeeded to get funding for an expedition to Skull Island. Bill hires former Captain James Conrad to guide the group – a group of soldiers under the command of Colonel Preston Packard along with Mason Weaver, an award-winning journalist and photographer. movie facts

The origin of King Kong is a fascinating story. Merian C. Cooper, adventurer and war hero, was the source of the legend of the giant ape. During his childhood, he had been fascinated with gorillas. When he became an adult, he got involved in the film industry. While out filming in Africa, he met a family of baboons, which inspired him to make a movie about primates. His idea to make a “terror gorilla picture” came when he arrived at RKO Pictures. He was also influenced by his friend, Douglas Burden’s adventures with Komodo Dragons. Cooper even had the idea to have a real gorilla from the Congo fight a real Komodo dragon.
