movie facts

At one point, the bride travels to Okinawa, Japan to get a sword from the legendary swordsmith Hattori Hanzo, who has gone into hiding after vowing to never forge another sword again. There, he operates a sushi restaurant as a cover. Okinawa is widely regarded in Japan as having the worst sushi in the entire country, so it would make sense for Hanzo to own a business like that there. Of the film’s $30 million budget, more than $60,000 was spent on swords and accessories, which play a prominent part in this film. As with most Quentin Tarantino movies, there is a long, uncut take of several minutes in length. It took more than six hours to rehearse and 17 tries to get a usable cut that they could put in the film.
