movie facts

Figure skating is a sport with an interesting association with show business. The competitions commonly include galas, in which the best skaters from different discipline will perform in non-competitive programs. Quite often skaters perform in many non-competitive shows both on and off the season. Competition levels vary greatly. Figure skaters start at beginner level and graduate to the Olympic level. There are also local, regional, national, and international competitions. Skating as a 'professional' does not refer to the skill of the skater, but instead the competitive level of the skater.
