The story speaks of how his Mother Daphne and his Nanny Olive, Christopher, and his family were swept up in the international success from the release of the books that brought so much hope to England after the First World War. Winnie the Pooh is a character birthed by A. A. Milne. He made his first appearance in 1926 in a collection of stories about the character. Then in 1928, the character made his next appearance in The House at Pooh Corner. In 1924 the character was mentioned in a poem about a bear in the verse book When We Were Very Young. E. H. Shepard illustrated all 4 of the volumes. To date, the books have been translated to a number of languages. In 1966 Disney was granted the rights to use the characters in their works.
