movie facts

Batman Begins is a reboot of the Batman series after Batman and Robin from 1997. It shows the origin of the character Bruce Wayne as he grows up and trains to become the hero of Gotham City. This is a much more serious take on the Batman character than movies of the past have portrayed the character. Begins was the first very successful superhero movie of the modern era, and was the start of the superhero movie renaissance, with Iron Man releasing a few years later, and the genre only growing from there. This film was the inspiration for the reboot of the James Bond franchise into a more serious take, starting with Casino Royale starring Daniel Craig. Christopher Nolan planned for his movie to become a trilogy from the start of the Batman Begins. Heath Ledger, who famously played the Joker in the second film, was also an option to play Batman in the first movie.
