movie facts

The character of Mitch Rapp, created by author Vince Flynn, has been featured in thirteen political thrillers. Events present in the book were changed when it was adapted for the screen. Supposedly, Rapp was seeking vengeance for the death of his girlfriend in the Lockerbie bombing of 1988, however the movie portrayed her death in the hands of a terrorist shootout on a beach in Spain. The 2010 novel of American Assassin, by Flynn, wasn’t the initial resource material to be considered for the film adaptation. Content to Kill, which focuses on the war on terror, was proposed to be the first in the Mitch Rapp film series. After an announcement on January 19, 2016 by CBS Films that the movie was going to be directed by Michael Cuesta, with the story written by Stephen Schiff, an online magazine, Deadline, announced Dylan O’Brien to star as Mitch Rapp. This was credited to the studio’s decision to portray the character as young, and able to see the actor grow with the progress of the film’s upcoming releases.
